The Oasis Lounge in Weirton, WV will be hosting a benefit for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Northern Panhandle on April 21-25, 2004. The event will feature Jeremy M. Davis, who works as a local Disk Jockey, attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ mix in a dance club. Along with that record there will also be a dancing marathon attempt for a Guinness World record as well. The current record for the DJ mix is 74 hours and Jeremy will be attempting to go for 96 hours all of which time the Oasis will be open to the public.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is very close to Jeremy because the foundation benefited his sister and family when his sister was diagnosed with brain cancer and ultimately died at the age of 13. Jeremy is doing this as a personal goal but mainly to try and give something back to other unfortunate children who are afflicted with a life threatening illness.

The goal is to generate $10,000 in profits and donations to be given to the Make-A-Wish foundation by the Mayor of Weirton in a ceremony to cap off the event. All net proceeds will also be going toward the Make-A-Wish donation. We are soliciting businesses in the area to obtain donations to make this event a success. We are asking for donations of $100 or more towards the event. Sponsorship of $100 or more will have the business name and logo on event T-shirts for staff and participants. We are estimating having at least 300 shirts printed. In addition to the T-shirts all sponsors will have their name printed on a high profile banner and the DJ will make announcements on the microphone throughout the event.

This event has already been given extensive media coverage and will be given more coverage in the days approaching as well as during the event. In addition to monetary donations we also accept services or merchandise that could be raffled off or sold at silent auction such as suntan packages or car detailing for example. If you are unable to donate the requested $100, any amount or donation will be greatly appreciated. Checks are payable to Make-A-Wish World Record and sent to the Oasis Lounge at the address below or sent in c/o Steel Works Credit Union in Weirton.

Thank you in advance for helping to make this event a success and making a difference in a child’s life.

Sincerely yours,

Ron Hirkala
